Job Title: RN Labor & Delivery (L&D)

Location: Clearlake, CA

Shift: Day Shift (0600-1830)

Schedule: 3x12 (36-48 hours per week)

Contract Weeks: 91

Position: Travel

Job Description:

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Labor & Delivery (L&D) team at Adventist Health Clearlake. This role requires strong labor experience and comfort with postpartum care. The RN will be responsible for providing exceptional care to women from childbearing years through geriatric stages and infants up to 28 days of life.

The RN will be supervising and coordinating care with other disciplines, ensuring safe, compassionate, and effective care for all patients. This role is critical in maintaining high standards in patient care while also mentoring and leading other team members.

Education & Experience:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • At least one-year labor and delivery experience required.
  • Postpartum experience is appreciated.
  • Nursery experience is a plus.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – Required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification – Preferred.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Required within 6 months of employment.
  • AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification – Required within 6 months of employment.
  • STABLE Certification – Preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care for women during labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
  • Provide care to infants up to 28 days of life, ensuring safe and appropriate care.
  • Administer medications, narcotics, and IV fluids according to policies.
  • Accurately document assessments, care plans, and patient responses in the clinical record.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with the care team, including physicians, patients, and family members.
  • Provide patient education, both pre-and post-delivery, ensuring patients understand their care and options.
  • Handle emergency situations promptly, precisely, and professionally.
  • Maintain patient care areas in a clean, neat, and safe environment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and compliance with all required competencies, certifications, and education.
